11/28/2009 Kellie's Castle
I visited Kellie’s Castle with Hippo on Nov 8th.
Teddy bears are cute; real bears are less cute; but this bear-face-like tree tumor is spooky…..
Can’t M*laysian be better than these?

(2) Laminated A4 paper! (We have somewhat consistent system, similar practice observed at National Zoo….) And do look at the vandalism…

11/14/2009 Venting frustrationWorking at a sleepy town like Sg. Siput, the weekly night market adds a little spice to our mundane life. My colleagues and I have made it a routine to loiter at the night market after work on Wednesdays.
My mood to further dawdle at the night market has been totally spoilt last week for the rude service provided by the “lut-lut” stall which we visit almost every week.
I could still hardly calm my fury the day after the incident and to vent my frustration, I then made this indignant leaflet and sent via email to all my Chinese colleagues at my site office. I laughed my heart out together with a few colleagues who witnessed the incident at the draft of the leaflet and I really felt better after that.
1 of my colleagues risked his life to snap the photo for me A good way to vent frustration! No???? 11/7/2009 Kuala Gula Trip-Part 1Tempted by this website, 4 colleagues and I have our hearts set to visit the mangrove forest on Oct 25th.
We followed the directions given by our Garmin until a point where we were at least 20km into the oil palm plantation and saw a sign of trespassers-will-be-shot.
“Better don’t proceed! Later we get shot!” Chalor urged. “The GPS is showing that the forest is somewhere ahead of this earth track…” I said. After 5 minutes into driving, the map was showing off road message and it started to keep on repeating the “recalculating” tone. Teetering on the brink of giving up the plan of visiting the mangrove forest and opted for Taiping Zoo instead, Yi Hao said he had to answer the call of nature, so we stopped by at the Hua Seng Keng temple.
I was staring at this banner while someone handed me a leaflet about the day tour available. One of the places to be visited was the mangrove forest! What a providence! We happily settled with the RM70-day-tour package.
First stop of the day: Hua Seng Keng temple
I must say this is a temple of technologies (ok, maybe I’m ignorant…)!
Case 1:
Before....
Kneel and you'll be rewarded with the holy water!
Case 2:
Automated bell and drum! Make a donation and then you could hear the "tuk-tuk-qiang" by pressing a button
We still had fun, albeit we were at the 18-level-Hell!
I called this "Afterlife building"; the upstairs=heaven; the downstairs=hell
I was trying to tickle the 马面...
白无常 & Yi Hao: *tongue out*
Yi Hao's query: *pointing at the statue with the upper body naked* How come there's somemone from Paleolithic era??? My answer: He lived long enough to die only during one of the Chinese dynasty...
We disported ourselves
Initially, my colleagues were all smiles before the shot, then I said we must show terrified face as we were about to be gulped down by the dragon!
Seeing Yi Hao's pose, people might think that he's the next-life of one of the 四大天王!
Yi Hao's trying to peep under 观音's skirt!
Wearied by constant posing and laughing, we were then brought to Restoran Wan Ling for lunch.
Lunch included in our tour package, but we had to pay for the drinks ourselves! .../Part 2 10/4/2009 Transvestism
A week ago, I applied the complimentary black mask given by my beautician which is said to be effective in removing black heads, on Hippo’s nose. I then laughed at him because with the black mask on his nose, he looked like a dog. After some time, Hippo prompted, “Can I stop being a dog and remove the mask?”
I found the scene hilarious and was sharing the story with my roommate while I was applying the same mask on my chin. My roommate then burst out laughing, “You look like a transvestite now!!”
Transvestite? No? 9/12/2009 Cameron HighlandsCameron Highlands is still very much the sum of cacti + strawberries + steamboat + roses/flowers + tea plantation + night market at Brinchang, compared to my last visit in March 2003.
We had our own steamboat session in the apartment
Oh, wait! I did observe some innovation:- 1) We can now pluck the strawberries ourselves! RM20/half a kg. 2) On a cursory look, I really thought it’s a new breed for guava, i.e. guava + apple! It’s actually still guava, with the skin peeled and added with artificial sweetener and coloring.
New breed of guava + apple?
Hippo still could recite the Boyle’s Law when he was asked to explain the bloating phenomenon of the titbits’ packaging. Impressive!
P1V1=P2V2=Constant, remember? 9/11/2009 Pet Peeves – Part 2I always show disdainful expression/response whenever someone greets me the following way:-
*I was having breakfast in the pantry*
Someone: Hi! Having breakfast ar? Me: …… *trying to be sarcastic* No, I’m washing my clothes!9/5/2009 Spot the difference
The claimed
And the reality - see the size?
Cant see the shrimps?.... They are minced... 8/8/2009 another collection gone...I suppose it's because I have to always share bedroom with my siblings (and I had been staying in the university’s dormitory sharing room with at least 1 roommate for 5 years!) that I have this yearning for a room by myself.
Ok, perhaps I need at least TWO rooms by myself, another one would serve as a library-cum-wardrobe-cum-exhibition room. Then only I would have the luxury of showcasing my collections of novels, comics, trophies/medals I once won, etc and etc, which can only be all squeezed in boxes and placed beneath my bed now. What could be worse is that at times, I have to even give up my ownership for something I would really like to keep due to congestion.
Succumbed to my mom’s constant nagging for storing too many non-necessities at home, I donated my collection of key chains (started collection since I was in primary school! Some were souvenirs) to charity organizations…
Good bye, key chains!
Spoilt cat
Yum Yum!
One fine day, I was having seafood lunch with my colleague. There was this stray cat which looked very much like the cartoon Sylvester hovered at our table.
Being a kind-hearted person, I fed him with the shells of the prawns. BUT, he seemed waiting for the prawn instead of the shell.
Then my colleague did this... 7/11/2009 Gotcha!Came across the following photos when I visited a restaurant in Kuala Kangsar for lunch with my colleague:-
These photos reminded me over a statement made by Billy during our trip to Kuala Kangsar back in 2007, that there was once a severe flood befell Kuala Kangsar in 1967 and the flood level reached the bottom of the clock! Bing, Sin Eee & I teased Billy that the people who survived the flood must be very good in swimming or diving.
So, Billy did not bluff… he just exaggerated!
The truth
Billy's claim 7/1/2009 MS Excel for live!I definitely don’t like:-
I turned 26 already… This year, someone gave me the most uncommon birthday gift I have ever received.
Guess what? Hippo actually made me a birthday backdrop!
I only managed to view this via a video sent by Hippo. I was stuck in Sg Siput so long that Hippo has already removed the backdrop when I finally have the chance to go back to KL...
And the following was heartwarming too:-
6/22/2009 Don’t mess with mePurposely make this a Mandarin post!
6/19/2009 Nerve-wracking experienceIt’s been some time since I last blog, was not in pink.
Since I came back from my Batu Pahat trip, I had prolonged sore throat and recurrence of fever for almost 2 weeks. I told my small boss I suspected myself having swine flu, he then said, “YOU WISH!”
I did seek consultation from doctor (at least 4 times in 2 weeks) in Sg. Siput but it did not seem to help at all. I seized the opportunity to go look for my family doctor in Kepong when I had some errands to run in HQ. The doctor prescribed a second type of antibiotic for me, which according to him was 1 of the strongest antibiotics after the first one failed to control the inflammation in my throat.
I thought I was on my way to regain my health until one day when I looked into the mirror and found the below:-
Oh my god! Look at the fungoid white patches!
My family doctor showed his terrified face when he saw the condition of my throat and promptly wrote me a referral letter to an ENT (ear, nose & throat) specialist at Sentosa Medical Centre. At this point, I was really anxious and worried, and what happened next distressed me even more.
Asking how bad my throat was, the doctor replied, “This is tonsil infection. It’s severe, need to do blood test to determine whether it's serious.” Being too kiasi, I carefully studied though the types of blood test they intended to do. To my astonishment, I saw a tick next to “HIV I & II”!!
a tick next to “HIV I & II”!!
I google-ed for the following once I reached home:- - ceftrex – the jab they gave – my thought: shit! Did that mean the bacteria have gained mutation? - ciprofloxacin – the antibiotic they gave – my thought: “used to treat severe and life threatening bacterial infections”, LIFE THREATENING it stated! - AIDS – Excerpt: symptoms of infection like fevers, sweats (particularly at night), swollen glands, chills, weakness, and weight loss – my thought: oh, gosh! I was having exactly the same symptoms!
So I had a bad 自己吓自己 night that day because when I met the specialist the next day, he told me my blood test was good and it’s apparent now what we are fighting with. He also recommended for surgery removal of tonsils if frequent recurrence of infection takes place.
Now, the white patches have gone for 1 week+ and I thought I’ll be leading a healthy and normal life again but then flu and sore throat hit me again this week! Can someone tell me what’s wrong with me? After all these, I really come to a serious realization that my health is my biggest asset. I slack so much at work because of the recurrence of fever. Let's pray...
p/s: the specialist told me that one of the contributing factors for my infection=S.T.R.E.S.S Another serious realization was dawning that: current stress=> tonsilitis more stress => cancer??????
