11/28/2009 Kellie's Castle
I visited Kellie’s Castle with Hippo on Nov 8th.
Teddy bears are cute; real bears are less cute; but this bear-face-like tree tumor is spooky…..
Can’t M*laysian be better than these?

(2) Laminated A4 paper! (We have somewhat consistent system, similar practice observed at National Zoo….) And do look at the vandalism…
(3) Read: “The spirit of xxx still believed to be wondering around this corridor”
11/7/2009 Kuala Gula Trip-Part 1Tempted by this website, 4 colleagues and I have our hearts set to visit the mangrove forest on Oct 25th.
We followed the directions given by our Garmin until a point where we were at least 20km into the oil palm plantation and saw a sign of trespassers-will-be-shot.
“Better don’t proceed! Later we get shot!” Chalor urged. “The GPS is showing that the forest is somewhere ahead of this earth track…” I said. After 5 minutes into driving, the map was showing off road message and it started to keep on repeating the “recalculating” tone. Teetering on the brink of giving up the plan of visiting the mangrove forest and opted for Taiping Zoo instead, Yi Hao said he had to answer the call of nature, so we stopped by at the Hua Seng Keng temple.
I was staring at this banner while someone handed me a leaflet about the day tour available. One of the places to be visited was the mangrove forest! What a providence! We happily settled with the RM70-day-tour package.
First stop of the day: Hua Seng Keng temple
I must say this is a temple of technologies (ok, maybe I’m ignorant…)!
Case 1:
Before....
Kneel and you'll be rewarded with the holy water!
Case 2:
Automated bell and drum! Make a donation and then you could hear the "tuk-tuk-qiang" by pressing a button
We still had fun, albeit we were at the 18-level-Hell!
I called this "Afterlife building"; the upstairs=heaven; the downstairs=hell
I was trying to tickle the 马面...
白无常 & Yi Hao: *tongue out*
Yi Hao's query: *pointing at the statue with the upper body naked* How come there's somemone from Paleolithic era??? My answer: He lived long enough to die only during one of the Chinese dynasty...
We disported ourselves
Initially, my colleagues were all smiles before the shot, then I said we must show terrified face as we were about to be gulped down by the dragon!
Seeing Yi Hao's pose, people might think that he's the next-life of one of the 四大天王!
Yi Hao's trying to peep under 观音's skirt!
Wearied by constant posing and laughing, we were then brought to Restoran Wan Ling for lunch.
Lunch included in our tour package, but we had to pay for the drinks ourselves! .../Part 2 9/12/2009 Cameron HighlandsCameron Highlands is still very much the sum of cacti + strawberries + steamboat + roses/flowers + tea plantation + night market at Brinchang, compared to my last visit in March 2003.
We had our own steamboat session in the apartment
Oh, wait! I did observe some innovation:- 1) We can now pluck the strawberries ourselves! RM20/half a kg. 2) On a cursory look, I really thought it’s a new breed for guava, i.e. guava + apple! It’s actually still guava, with the skin peeled and added with artificial sweetener and coloring.
New breed of guava + apple?
Hippo still could recite the Boyle’s Law when he was asked to explain the bloating phenomenon of the titbits’ packaging. Impressive!
P1V1=P2V2=Constant, remember? 7/1/2009 MS Excel for live!I definitely don’t like:-
I turned 26 already… This year, someone gave me the most uncommon birthday gift I have ever received.
Guess what? Hippo actually made me a birthday backdrop!
I only managed to view this via a video sent by Hippo. I was stuck in Sg Siput so long that Hippo has already removed the backdrop when I finally have the chance to go back to KL...
And the following was heartwarming too:-
6/19/2009 Nerve-wracking experienceIt’s been some time since I last blog, was not in pink.
Since I came back from my Batu Pahat trip, I had prolonged sore throat and recurrence of fever for almost 2 weeks. I told my small boss I suspected myself having swine flu, he then said, “YOU WISH!”
I did seek consultation from doctor (at least 4 times in 2 weeks) in Sg. Siput but it did not seem to help at all. I seized the opportunity to go look for my family doctor in Kepong when I had some errands to run in HQ. The doctor prescribed a second type of antibiotic for me, which according to him was 1 of the strongest antibiotics after the first one failed to control the inflammation in my throat.
I thought I was on my way to regain my health until one day when I looked into the mirror and found the below:-
Oh my god! Look at the fungoid white patches!
My family doctor showed his terrified face when he saw the condition of my throat and promptly wrote me a referral letter to an ENT (ear, nose & throat) specialist at Sentosa Medical Centre. At this point, I was really anxious and worried, and what happened next distressed me even more.
Asking how bad my throat was, the doctor replied, “This is tonsil infection. It’s severe, need to do blood test to determine whether it's serious.” Being too kiasi, I carefully studied though the types of blood test they intended to do. To my astonishment, I saw a tick next to “HIV I & II”!!
a tick next to “HIV I & II”!!
I google-ed for the following once I reached home:- - ceftrex – the jab they gave – my thought: shit! Did that mean the bacteria have gained mutation? - ciprofloxacin – the antibiotic they gave – my thought: “used to treat severe and life threatening bacterial infections”, LIFE THREATENING it stated! - AIDS – Excerpt: symptoms of infection like fevers, sweats (particularly at night), swollen glands, chills, weakness, and weight loss – my thought: oh, gosh! I was having exactly the same symptoms!
So I had a bad 自己吓自己 night that day because when I met the specialist the next day, he told me my blood test was good and it’s apparent now what we are fighting with. He also recommended for surgery removal of tonsils if frequent recurrence of infection takes place.
Now, the white patches have gone for 1 week+ and I thought I’ll be leading a healthy and normal life again but then flu and sore throat hit me again this week! Can someone tell me what’s wrong with me? After all these, I really come to a serious realization that my health is my biggest asset. I slack so much at work because of the recurrence of fever. Let's pray...
p/s: the specialist told me that one of the contributing factors for my infection=S.T.R.E.S.S Another serious realization was dawning that: current stress=> tonsilitis more stress => cancer??????
5/7/2009 Simon & Su Ee tying the knot – Part 1- Meeting old acquaintances
My last visit back to my beloved university was on March 2007, for a siao project. This time, I took a week’s leave to go back to Partit Raja & Batu Pahat to attend Su Ee & Simon’s wedding, and to execute my secret mission.
I met a few professors, lecturers, technician, staffs from Student Affairs Office + Sports & Co-curriculum Centre and juniors. This trip has certainly boosted a wee bit of my self-esteem which has been seriously eroded at work place, I felt like I’m SOMEBODY because not only people still recognize me, they can still address me with my name when I have already forgotten theirs (or maybe it’s me who suffer amnesia?
Old photo: Group picture taken with Prof. Aziz (sitting, 2nd from left) in Indonesia. He is now the Dean for my faculty. His face constantly reminds me of Wei Chern!
Old photo: Our dean last time (the one with songkok) has been promoted, he's now the Deputy Vice Chancellor
Old photo: Met helpful Mr. Koh (middle) as well
I paid a visit to my good old coach’s house. As usual, I was greeted with warm welcome by him. I think Mrs. Coach must feel good to have a husband who is still well-built even in his 60-ies! Coach has a son who is equally attractive as he is. Potty and I used to admire the son so much!

Hippo & I also went look for friends who are
Seekhee is kind enough to provide refuge for me & hippo during our stay at BP. Received funny sms from YK on the night of 30/4:-
YK: Eh, in BP already? Where do you all stay? Me: Sleeping by the road side YK: My house is empty tonight. Don’t say I never offer hor. Me: Ceh! After tonight still have to sleep by the road side… YK: Walao, got place la. Wanna come or not? Me: It’s ok for us to sleep by the road side, as long as you treat me, hippo & Seekhee breakfast tomorrow! YK: Bye!
Seekhee put the bolster in between to prevent me from molesting her while she’s deep in slumber!
I reckon Seekhee can really be a terrific house wife because she possesses the following virtues:- 1) She sleeps & eats very little! 2) She’s very thrifty. She kinda stopped McEgg from buying her a Gucci bag. 3) She does house chores diligently. 4) She’s a good cook!
Seekhee's cooking. To keep my promise of not posting photo showing Seekhee in her casual wear at home & to repay her kindness for shou liu-ing me, I draw her a Gucci top!
4-dish + 1 soup, prepared by Seekhee in just the blink of an eye. Not forgetting, the tabao-ed 烧肉 from YK.
"Reunion" lunch at Seekhee's house
Miss this 福州 egg soup very much!
One of the constinuous shots yang tidak bermaya...
The age has really taken its toll on all of us, (I must say, except Ah Leang!) the enthusiasm for continuous shots is just not there anymore. These were what we could do during our heyday:-
As asserted by Suecing, what you witness above is just tip of the iceberg, it’s only 10% of our skills!

I have a feeling that the later someone gets married, the less fun and more formal the wedding would become! Because as the days go by, everyone will be tied down more by heavier workload, naughtier children & busier schedule! Tell me I’m wrong… 3/18/2009 I’m traumatized…After my 3rd surgical experience - to remove my ….. … … … … … … …
…
…
…
… Wisdom tooth!
“Wreckage” of my tooth! At first I thought I would have a tooth in one piece as collection… The dentist has to cut my tooth into pieces in order to extract it
My orthopantomogram (OPG)
I have 2 impacted wisdom teeth (1 on lower left & 1 on lower right) which on and off cause swelling and redness of the gum around the teeth. After all the endurance, it was until 2 weeks ago that I was determined to have an once and for all extraction for the one on the lower left because it triggered an infection around the gum and also slight swelling along my jaw line and I suffered fever for this.
A dentist from a private dental clinic once quoted me RM500 for the extraction of my wisdom tooth. This’s gonna cost me a small bomb! This dearly priced service has then rendered me to opt for government dental clinic in Kuala Kangsar.
My surgical appointment was on today. “This is a tough one…” the dentist told me so after glancing through my OPG.
The extraction took 1 hour. Post-extraction, the dentist commented the following:- “This is the longest surgery I have ever had and your tooth is really big!”
A chip of my tooth
To me, it’s disgusting to gulp down my own blood, so I chose to spit the blood together with my saliva into a plastic bag along my 3-hour drive back to KL.
Not Ribena!
It is now 9 hours after the surgery but blood is still oozing out of the wound… 1/26/2009 Motivational Camp @ Kem Rekreasi Intan Suraya

The flying fox tower. Too bad, flying fox's not part of the activities... 1/2/2009 So long~~ 2008Significant events on my 2008 calendar:-
1) Revisit National Zoo after 18 years. A rather disappointing experience… 2) Received album containing photos from my studio shot. Miss these days when I was still so slim… 3) Had my first ride on banana boat. 4) Hippo became my special someone! 5) Last training before conquering Mount Kinabalu: Gunung Bunga Buah. 6) Experienced from being main contractor->consultant->main contractor. More convinced that I’m not cut out for designing work cuz lack of intelligent juice! 7) Did my first polling! 8) First time becoming tax-payer. 9) Attempt to conquer Mount Kinabalu=fiasco. Read what happened here, here, there and there. Pedas white water rafting=fun!!! 10) Tarzan-ning around at Skytrex Adventure, Bukit Cahaya. 11) Suffered migraine for the first time in my life. 12) Expelled to Sg. Siput for work. 13) First time driving for long distance ALONE and now it becomes part of my routine now. Remember I used to be very much a dummy in driving? 14) Jalan-jalan (siao! Life’s getting less interesting, isn’t it?
New year, new calendar! 12/26/2008 What I did this Xmas
I visited Sungai Klah Hot Springs Park, Sungkai with my colleagues.
I’ll let the photos tell the yarn:-
Please have a guess on why Sin Chan was bringing chopsticks with her. The answer will be revealed later.
First stop of the day. Happily jumped into the water, to my disappointment, it’s a cold water pool… Waited obediently for my turn to slide down from the mouth of the octopus together with my colleagues. We were crowded by kids and we looked so over-aged!
After the cold water pool, we went over to the hot spring pool. At first, most of the people just submerged themselves around the peripheral of the enclosure of the pool.
Gradually, I saw people flocking towards this corner…
Because that’s the inlet of source of heated water!
The whole hot spring pool is full of algae! So geli!
Group photo!
Auntie proudly showing an one-ringgit note she found!
As suggested by its name, I saw many people queuing for their turns to boil eggs at the Egg Boiling Pond. They were so professional & well-equipped, with ladle and trays!
Siap with guideline on the timing!
“Visitor is allowed only to boil egg, prawn, crab & cockles…” Except eggs, I seriously don’t think I’ll eat prawn/crab/cockles cooked here… Answer to my quiz just now: Sin Chan bought the chopsticks to enjoy her steamboat session here!
Imagine if the water can boil the eggs, what would happen to these 3 siao giah who immersed their lower bodies into the water? *whisper: watch out for cooked balls…*
Map for your reference
Finally, heading home! The mist of water vapour made it a heavenly view! 11/28/2008 Creativity for Annual DinnerIt’s a pleasurable experience to witness the creativity or courage of people to be outstanding during annual dinner.
There is this one guy who is always eye-catching during my company’s annual dinner every year. He had been crowned as the best dressed for the past 2 years and his creativity or should I say “courage” always surprises me.
For the 1st annual dinner I attended in year 2006, the theme was “Pearl Paradise”. The said creative guy wore the full diving suit! Oxygen tank included!
Dun play play! Full set of diving set!
Pearl Paradise: I purposely bought a hair band with counterfeit pearls for the dinner to suit the theme
Then it came the 2007 annual dinner with the theme of “A Walk down the Memory Lane”. The guy again surprised me by wearing the uniform of primary school, coupled with the nostalgic canvas schoolbag and even brought the bicycle along!
Paiseh.. I only snapped the projected image. He brought the bicycle all the way up to the grand ball room of Hilton, KL!
A Walk down the Memory Lane: I dressed like 陈宝珠!
Next, “Mystery of D’ Oriental” was chosen as the theme for the annual dinner this year. I was in anticipation to witness the creativity of that guy. My guesses were that he would dress up as a Ninja, sumo player or Chinese zombie. Guess what? Those were exactly what we had on stage as finalists for the best dressed award!
I think the sumo guy's the most creative of all. He made his own costume!
What did I wear for this year's annual dinner? Well, it's gonna be my next blog entry... 10/28/2008 Penang Trip 2008I visited Penang again on 26-27 Oct.
Best Food of the Trip
Satay sold next to Hau Yu Seafood Restaurant at Teluk Kumbar (Address: 84, MK9, Teluk Kumbar. Tel: 04-6491403)! I’m not exaggerating, so far it was the best satay I have ever tasted! Just not the conventional taste of satay.
Most Interesting Activity of the Trip
I did my first parasailing at Batam. This time, I parasailed with hippo!
Parasailing with hippo!
Hehehe...
Activities available at Batu Ferringhi
So gonna try this "fly fish" next time, looks fun rite? 10/2/2008 My first ever fish spa!
So, Hippo and I paid for the fish, to feed on us!
I really think the fish like my feet more!
Before I dipped my feet in: this much of fish were with hippo
After I dipped my feet in: not much left ....
All with me now! 7/12/2008 Could you smell durian? All of us at my site office did!
On June 26th, around the most unproductive hour of the day (i.e. 4pm, haha), we were all anticipating……
THE DURIAN FEAST!!!
Look at the faces overwhelmed with joy!
6/1/2008 It's my birthday! This year, besides dozens of greeting sent via sms, friendster & multiply, bonus that I got were:-
A piece of strawberry cheese tart
A slice of banana chocolate cake
An unlooked-for celebration from hippo + a luxurious dinner with him
a day of extra pampering from hippo
A celebration at Zakuro, organized by my good old ji mui-s in KL.
Shit! The notion of I’m almost 30 is terrorizing me! 5/21/2008 Defying heightFor those who do not suffer from acrophobia, this is a place where you should really consider visiting: Skytrex Adventure!
It’s located inside Taman Pertanian in Shah Alam and it costs RM35 per person.
I went there with my hiking friends on April 6th.
Do you think you have the guts to go through all these?
Here come the actions! Please welcome, the kungfu kid, Leong HW!
And Samantha the Great!
Tarzan swing to spidey web!
Yee-Ha!
I had great fun and the aftereffect would be pain in the arms and abdomen…. 4/10/2008 Counting blessing...Dear friends who went to Padas River rafting with me,
We were all lucky…

On 22nd March – crawling my way up to Laban Rata
With my myopic eye power of 200, the fascinating rainbow was still visible from the balcony of our room at Rose Cabin!
Rainbow on your left! It reminded me over an old adage: the best things in life are FREE!
When we reached the I-forgot-what-hut, fatigue in body and mind, I saw a space next to where our guide was sitting, without any hesitation; I spontaneously sat on the tree trunk.
“Aiyo! Ahmoi! Seluar kamu kena tahi tupai-tupai sudah!”
Yuckssss!!!!! Then I scurried for water supply to get rid of the yucky matter off my pants. Once I came out from the toilet, I shouted aloud, “I HATE SQUIRREL!” and all the people witnessing my misfortune burst into laughter.
I hate squirrel!!!!
It was at another I-forgot-what-hut that we were having a break. We saw a squirrel. Sue then asked, “Was that a squirrel anyway?”
“If it’s not a squirrel, then chipmunk it is!” I replied.
“No, it’s a RAT!” a humorous reply from the angmoh.
The transition of my level of energy went like these along my trail up to Laban Rata:-
5 minutes into the climb from Mersilau: I started to pant… After Layang-layang: Lactic acid was forming… steps getting heavier… 1 km to reach Laban Rata: body fully manipulated by fatigue 500m to reach Laban Rata: I swore to myself that I WON’T JOIN ANY HIKING TRIP ANYMORE!!!
Wuu
Pity Sue! Actually she could go as fast as a rocket, but she slowed down to match with my pace… how sweet!
Introducing PEREMPUAN KUAT UNTUK 2008, TEO SUE CING!!!!!! See the difference? When I was almost half dead, she still can squeeze a smile! This was actually her 1st official hiking trip! Impressive?
When we finally reached the Laban Rata Rest House, we needed to hustle for our hot shower, dinner and also the via ferrata briefing. I was so exhausted and very IMPATIENT! I did not comprehend why the impatience, I wikipedia-ed, it’s not the symptom of altitude sickness… I think my “blaze of impatience” almost burned Sue… Sorry, Sue! I couldn’t sleep well that night too… was dreaming something bad about the twilight climb… 3/30/2008 Kinabalu Trip – Part 1: Days Before the ClimbAs usual, this blog is to supplement Sue’s blog in a way.
On Mar 19th - lonely flight to KK I told my best traveling partner, Sue that our trip to Kinabalu was like doomed…
1) me and sue almost withdrew ourselves from the trip 2) 3 colleagues of Sue back off about a month before the trip; and 3 friends of mine retreated from the trip 4 hours before our flight. As a result, I had to travel to kk and spend one-day on myself ALONE. 3) 5 hours before my flight, while I was still packing my stuff, suddenly there’s sharp pain in the stomach, so bad that I couldn’t even walk straight. My mom then sent me to clinic. 4) when I reached Summer Lodge and tried to check in, someone at the reception told me that, “Sorry, miss, we don’t have your reservation…” my agent forgot to do the arrangement!
After all the hoo-hah, I managed to settle down at the lodge.
These were all mine! I seriously think that they were too much to be brought!
Lonely... Lonely... Flying all alone.. anyone to save this lonely soul?
On Mar 20th - lonely soul loitering in KK town The next morning, I wandered around Kota Kinabalu town on my own using a map printed out from Google Earth. I did not dare to stray too far from the lodge since I’m a dummy in directions.
A mega cute meow meow found at the lodge to soothed my lonesome
A moment of hesitation: should I buy some salted fish as souvenirs?
The Philippino Market: bought some souvenirs here.
Jeffrey then came and brought us all to Tanjung Aru Beach for supper. After the supper, we went back to our lodge.
I came here the first time in 2005!
I wanna use 群众的力量: the food prepared by stall #11=antonym of delicious!
In our dorm, Chee Haur made a brave manifesto as to wear only the thinnest clothes possible to climb Mount Kinabalu! Stay tuned to see whether or not he did honor his words!
Haur acting macho!
Mega speechless... it was my head torch!!!!
On Mar 21st - journey to Kinabalu Park Nothing much to further elaborate except more feeds on photos:-
Sue bought a bunch of the bananas at Pekan Nabalu. She 心理作用, said the bananas were extraordinary sweet!
The Aslan dog! I think he's a bad dog cuz 好狗不拦路!Sue's GREATLY terrified!
Having hard time with the hot shower at Rose Cabin... |
